What exactly is B2B? It is simply an abbreviation that means Business to Business or what is the same business to business, which refers to any company focused on selling products or services to other companies instead of final consumers.

What is a B2B company?

B2B companies are support companies that offer services or products that other companies need to operate and grow. Examples include tax authorities for other companies, industrial suppliers, etc. This contrasts with B2C or Business to Consumer models that sell directly to individual customers.

Examples of B2B companies

There are B2B companies in all industries, from manufacturing to retail. Wherever business is done, you can be sure that a large number of B2B suppliers and consulting firms are behind the products you consume on a daily basis. Every B2C company requires certain products, services, and professional advice, so every B2C company generates B2B activity. An example of a traditional B2B marketplace is car manufacturing. We all know some of the most important brands for consumers, but in every model of car or truck they produce, there are dozens of products from other companies. These include the tires, hoses, batteries, and electronics that are essential for the final consumer product, the vehicle, to function properly. The manufacturer buys these products from its various suppliers and incorporates them into the final product. In fact, it is known that car brands are assemblers of other intermediate products. When you buy a car from one company, you are buying parts that were created by dozens, if not hundreds, of other companies around the world. Inter-company sales are a vital part of every industry’s supply chain. Examples of B2B activity in the real world are abundant and more visible than you might think. For example, the cloud-based document storage company, Dropbox, serves both businesses and individuals.
